I am going to share a tutorial of the most loved clay birds I like to make now and then. These make great gifts for family members, newlyweds, or Baby's 1st Christmas ornaments!
You can also make your bird plain, without words, and coat it in colored glitter. Or cut words from an old book and use a clear gloss glaze to adhere the paper to the bird.

These birds are each so beautiful. I love how you can make them so very personal with just the right word or phrase, colors, strings, beads, etc. Thanks for sharing how you do it; I will send pics if I give some a go. I have a purchased owl holiday ornament hanging in the doorway between my kitchen and living room all year; another bird may need to join her there...

These ornaments are so cute! I'd love to be able to make one but I fear it wouldn't end up looking like a bird. I might have to give it a try though!

I absolutely love these and made 10 of them that turned out beautifully. Then I hit a snag! It's not as easy to glitter them as I thought it would be. Any advice on this??

These are lovely! How did you attach the strings to the birds with the cut words from an old book?? Also if you're not hanging any charms at the bottom of the bird I assume the wire in looped at the top of the bird? Please please please reply!! I've been browsing around looking at homemade ornaments, and these are just way too awesome not to to try. Wondering - how did you do the ones with the non-stamped words on them? Did you mod podge it on after painting? Would that work?

This is such a great tutorial! Every year the kids and I make Christmas ornaments for our family. Given its just me and my boys, we started a tradition that despite only giving to the kids, we also make ever family an ornament, as well as ones for our tree. That way its our way of sharing our love to them as well to each other. Its not much but we enjoy it...
This blog solved my problem, what to do this year. Everything I've tried has been cheesy. This one even my eleven year old can shape, stamp and paint!

Birds are really in style in home decor so these are great for year round. My mother LOVES birds so I'm making her one with her name on it for her home. It would be cute on a china cabinet knob or really hanging from anything. Instead of painting mine, I'm going to sand it, shine it up, and then antique it in order for the paint to get into the letters. The fun part is going to be to pick the beads.

I've been practicing making these birds with my daughters Play-dough. I've mustered up enough confidence to give it a go :-) I made clay out of Baking soda and cornstarch (bakers clay). I hope this clay will work well. Thanks for showing us how to make these cute birds!
